Larkin Mortuary(Sandy) hosted its annual Memorial Day Program May 29 at its flagship cemetery Larkin Sunset Gardens. Featured speaker Jennie Taylor, a Gold Star wife and civilian aide to the secretary of the U.S. Army, spoke about the importance of patriotism and honored all veterans, especially those in the audience. Taylor’s husband, Utah Army National Guard Major Brent Taylor, was killed in action in Afghanistan in November 2018 while on a leave of absence from his position as mayor of North Ogden City, Utah.

The program also featured the Hill Air Force Honor Guard, Minuteman Brass Quintet, Alta High School Madrigals and the Utah Firefighters Emerald Society Drum and Bagpipe Corps. Services included a flag ceremony, patriotic speeches and songs from each branch of the U.S. military.
