NFDA Will Bring Professional Women’s Conference to Canada

August 06, 2018

For Immediate Release: August 6, 2018

Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), in partnership with the Funeral Service Association of Canada (FSAC), will host a second Professional Women’s Conference in 2018. Known as the profession’s leading gathering for women in funeral service, the event in Canada will take place November 16-18 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. This intimate gathering will be the perfect setting for funeral directors, educators, students and suppliers to generate new ideas, grow personally and professionally, and create lasting relationships with other professionals.

The conference begins the evening of Friday, November 16 with a complimentary Welcome Reception to help conference attendees get to know one another in anticipation of the forthcoming day-and-a-half of learning.

Attendees can expect engaging conference sessions led by experts covering a wide range of topics:

  • Saturday, November 17
    • General Session: Funerals Build Resilient Kids presented by Joe Primo, Good Grief, Morristown, N.J.
    • General Session: Professional Presence: Body Language presented by Sandra Corelli, Corporate Class Inc., Toronto, ON
    • Celebrate the accomplishments of women who have earned Professional Women’s Conference scholarships from the Funeral Service Foundation during a complimentary recognition luncheon
    • General Session: RSVP: I’ll See You at My Living Funeral presented by Lacy Robinson, NFDA

Attendees can kick off their Professional Women’s Conference experience by participating in the NFDA Arranger Training program on November 16. Lacy Robinson, CFSP, NFDA director of member development, will help you learn how to make the most of arrangement conferences through a creative, five-step process you will only discover during the NFDA Arranger Training workshop.

This high-energy, interactive program provides attendees with the tools they need to convey the value of the funeral to families and partner with them to design memorable life tribute events. Through a combination of small- and large-group discussions, problem-solving and creative collaboration, attendees will leave with fresh approaches and new ideas to transform arrangement conferences.

NFDA and FSAC members can save $100 (USD) on the Arranger Training registration fee when they also register for the Professional Women’s Conference.

The Funeral Service Foundation will award up to five NFDA-FSAC Professional Women’s Conference scholarships that will cover recipients’ conference registration fees and provide up to a $1,000 USD travel and accommodation stipend. The Professional Women’s Conference scholarships are part of the Foundation ‘45 Awards, which are designed to transform the careers of funeral service professionals through scholarships, awards, resources and mission-focused outreach.

All women in funeral service, including students, are invited to apply. Please visit the Funeral Service Foundation website, www.funeralservicefoundation.org, for more information and to apply. Applications are due September 16.

NFDA and FSAC have secured a limited number of rooms at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel for the special rate of $249 plus tax (CAD). Visit the NFDA website, www.nfda.org/pwccanada, for information about how to book a room; conference attendees must secure their rooms by October 22 to receive the exclusive conference rates.
