In October, PlotBox held its inaugural Global Tech Summit in the picturesque surrounds of its headquarters at the ecosHUB in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Delegates representing deathcare providers from across the United States, the Asia Pacific region, the U.K. and Ireland attended the special three-day event.

Following a message from Joseph Kennedy, President Joe Biden’s special envoy to Northern Ireland for economic affairs, PlotBox CEO Sean McAllister laid out the aims of the event, including discussions, workshops and interactive sessions, as well as global industry experts and academics sharing insights on some of the most prevalent technology talking points within deathcare.

The first day included presentations on the importance of data strategy and cybersecurity, a facilitated discussion on the future of disposal techniques, a PlotBox product solution “inspiration session” and an update on the company’s genealogy grave-search platform, Everafter.

The next day, delegates took part in an innovation-led, digital solution-themed design sprint session; a tour of Belfast City Cemetery, which included seeing Everafter in practice in the cemetery’s newly opened visitor center; and a Belfast food tour, which allowed the group to relax and unwind.

On the final day, Steve Gant, consultant advisor and managing director of London Cremation Company PLC, presented “Past, Present and Future of the U.K. Cremation Model”; APAC General Manager Martin Jackson highlighted innovations in sustainable burial practices used by PlotBox customers in Australia and New Zealand; and a tour was taken of County Antrim’s beautiful North Coast, including a visit to Northern Ireland’s iconic World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway, and a tour of Bushmills distillery, the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. plotbox.io
